  • HOW DO I KNOW I HAVE CHOSEN THE RIGHT THERAPIST?
    Therapy is a personal matter and one must feel comfortable with whom they choose to work with. Many therapists specialize in particular areas and others have decades of experience. Ultimately, studies show that the relationship between the therapist and client is the single most important factor in a successful therapuetic process. If you feel that you can open up to your therapist, believe he or she understands you and can be empathetic to your challenges, and in addition, has the appropriate training and education to help you deal with your particular issues, you're probably on the right track.
  • DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
    Due to the complex nature of the insurance world, Dr. Katzenstein is not on any insurance panels at this time. However, he does provide receipts if you have out-of-network benefits with your insurance coverage.
  • HOW CAN I ENSURE WHAT I SAY IN THERAPY WILL BE KEPT CONFIDENTIAL?
    Just like going to a medical doctor, any information provided to a licensed therapist is protected by law and may not be disclosed to anyone else- aside for a few exceptions- such as information that pertains to potentially harming oneself or others, or suspected child neglect or abuse.
  • DO YOU PRESCRIBE MEDICATIONS?
    In the state of New York, only medical doctors can prescribe medication. If there is a potential need for medication, Dr. Katzenstein works closely with number of psychiatrists whom clients can be referred to.
